“RECS 2017 provided invaluable insights into the CCUS market, exploring both challenges and stakeholder motivations driving many CCUS industry partners. The curriculum was tailored to develop a broader understanding of the CCUS field and enable participants to gain perspective beyond their respective area of study or expertise. The RECS director accomplished an incredible task of balancing lectures, activities, and site visits to give participants a holistic understanding of the many pieces that make up the CCUS field ranging from policy, geology, to the physical energy generation. The intensive week was filled with high quality guest lecturers and tours such as of the Kemper Energy Facility and Plant Gaston. These site visits also enabled participants to engage with utility representatives and leading industry experts. In addition to the packed schedule of lectures and site visit, the program brought together an incredible group of young professionals working and researching on various CCUS topics. I learned a tremendous amount just from casual conversation among fellow program participants on topics I would otherwise seldom interact with in my normal area of work. RECS gave me an opportunity to develop a strong network of professionals in the CCUS community and walk away with priceless friendships.”
