Ben Wernette currently serves as a geologist for the Southern States Energy Board where he is involved in the daily management of several DOE-funded CCUS projects. Before his current position, Ben completed his PhD at Duke University, where he used a combination of field, laboratory, and numerical methods to study the formation of mid-ocean ridges in the eastern Pacific Ocean. In addition to this work, Ben also has professional and academic experience researching precious metal ore bodies in Nevada, Montana, and Greenland. When not thinking about science, Ben enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his wife and cats.
